Exclusive: Liverpool to snub right-back duo as new concerns emerge
Liverpool are expected to reject opportunities to sign Jeremie Frimpong and Denzel Dumfries this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that, while there is interest in both Dutch internationals, they do not fit the profile of player Arne Slot wants to recruit.
Dumfries, 29, and Frimpong, 24, are more suited to playing as attack-minded wing-backs which the boss does not typically use in his 4-3-3 system.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are unlikely to move for Frimpong this summer.
The Bayer Leverkusen wing-back’s perceived lack of defensive stability has risen as a concern and alternative options will be assessed as a result.
Instead, Football Insider revealed Conor Bradley will be given a chance by Liverpool to prove himself and become their regular starting right-back.

Liverpool step up search to find Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement
Speculation about the right-back position in Slot’s side have come after Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed he would be leaving Anfield this summer.
Football Insider revealed in March that Liverpool will not give Bradley any guarantees that he’ll succeed Alexander-Arnold when their star right-back leaves.
The Northern Ireland international has been a competent backup to the first-choice option for two seasons now, and is viewed as a potential successor.
However, the Reds plan to assess their options in the transfer market before making a final decision about their primary target to replace the 26-year-old.
Links to Frimpong, meanwhile, have come amid interest from Man City – although Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to prioritise other targets.

Alexander Isak update emerges after Newcastle latest
A new right-back is not the only position Slot’s side are targeting this summer, with the addition of a new centre-forward also high on their list of priorities.
However, Football Insider revealed on 9 May that Liverpool are unlikely to sign Alexander Isak as they are not willing to meet Newcastle’s lofty asking price.
The Magpies will demand upwards of £100million for Isak, which Liverpool consider to be outside of their price range and they will consider alternative options to strengthen up front.
As a result, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 19 April that Isak is expected to stay at Newcastle as they will price him out of a move elsewhere.
