Exclusive: Liverpool work on signing first-XI star to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool will strengthen with a first-choice right-back signing in the wake of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit, sources have told Football Insider.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, has confirmed he will leave the Reds and join Spanish giants Real Madrid next month.
Conor Bradley has deputised for the England international during injury and has acquitted himself well, but Liverpool want a new signing on the right side of Arne Slot’s defence.
The Merseysiders acknowledge it will be difficult to secure a like-for-like replacement for Alexander-Arnold but concerns over Bradley’s fitness mean they can’t go without signing a first-choice option.
Liverpool want first-choice right-back despite Bradley’s emergence
Slot will get a big summer budget to fine-tune his squad after his stunning first season in charge which has seen Liverpool win the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold has played 42 times across all competitions, scoring four goals and notching eight assists.

The right-back established himself as an attacking force under Jurgen Klopp, laying on more than 10 Premier League assists in every season between 2018 and 2023.
Joe Gomez, who is currently out through injury, will continue to fill in as an emergency right-back when needed.

Liverpool secure £260m windfall
Football Insider revealed last week (30 April) that Liverpool are set to earn just under £260million in prize money after claiming the Premier League title.
That figure also includes prize money from their run to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they were eliminated on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool are 15 points ahead of second-place Arsenal ahead of their final three fixtures against the Gunners, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
