Exclusive: Liverpool’s stance on Omar Marmoush hijack revealed

Liverpool have no plans to hijack Man City’s move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have previously been linked with the 25-year-old, who has been in electric form for the Bundesliga side this term.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (6 January) that Man City have held preliminary talks with Frankfurt star Marmoush and his representatives over a potential transfer.

Pep Guardiola’s side have identified the Egypt international as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez, who left City for Atletico Madrid in the off-season.

Liverpool do not have Marmoush on the radar in this window and are pursuing alternative targets.

City are the primary club pushing to land the free-scoring striker and are leading the race for his signature at this early stage of the mid-season transfer window, which ends on 3 February.

Marmoush, 25, has notched 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2024-25 campaign.

13 of those strikes have come in the Bundesliga, leaving him just one short of Bayern Munich and England star Harry Kane at the top of the league’s scoring charts.

The Egypt international primarily plays as a centre-forward but can also feature on the left and right flanks – as well as in an attacking midfielder role.
