Exclusive: Man City in advanced talks to sign Ben Vickery

Man City are in advanced talks to sign Hibernian goalkeeper Ben Vickery, sources have told Football Insider.

City scouts have been making regular checks on the rising star, 16, and have pushed to bring Vickery south of the border.

The Premier League giants are continuing their policy of signing the best young talent around as they pursue the teenager.

Negotiations over a transfer are nearly complete after City submitted a contract offer to the Scotland youth international.

Man City close to completing Vickery deal

Vickery is highly regarded at Easter Road having played for the club’s Under-18s and figured for Scotland at the Under-16 level.

Man City’s Under-18 side are top of the U18 Premier League this term, while the Citizens’ Under-21 side are first in Premier League 2.

Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb, James McAtee and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey have all featured for Pep Guardiola’s senior side this term after coming through the academy system.

Meanwhile, Hibernian sit third in the Scottish Premiership after beating Edinburgh rivals Hearts 2-1 on Sunday (2 March).

Football Insider revealed last week (26 February) that Hibernian have opened talks with senior goalkeeper Jordan Smith over a new deal as reward for his impressive form.

Man City line up right-back and midfielder deals

Meanwhile, Man City are set to prioritise the signing of a new right-back and central midfielder this summer.

City fast-tracked their transfer plans with four big-money January signings- which had initially been planned for the summer.
