Exclusive: Man City plot sensational move to re-sign Liam Delap
Man City are keeping tabs on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap after his Etihad Stadium exit in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old was allowed to leave City in the off-season but has hit the ground running in the Premier League for promoted Ipswich.
Delap signed a five-year contract with the Tractor Boys but it is believed City inserted a buy-back clause in the deal.
The Premier League champions also have a sell-on clause meaning they stand to benefit from any future sale.
Sources say City will weigh up the merits of bringing the forward back to the club when the clause becomes active.
Delap has already hit six Premier League goals and notched one assist in 12 top-flight appearances this term.
He starred as Ipswich drew 1-1 with Man United on Sunday (24 November) and would have added to that tally if not for a formidable performance from goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Man City could bring Delap back to the Etihad Stadium
The 21-year-old had struggled to find form in loans with Stoke, Preston and Hull in the Championship prior to his permanent City exit.
He scored 12 goals in 68 second-tier games but was prolific for the Citizens at youth level and is now living up to his potential in the top flight.

Delap made six senior appearances for City, scoring once.
Erling Haaland is the club’s only recognised striker after the big-money sale of Julian Alvarez in the summer window.
