Exclusive: Man United green light Ethan Williams January loan deal

Manchester United have given the green light to Ethan Williams completing a January loan move, sources have told Football Insider.

Stockport and Leyton Orient are two of many EFL clubs who have made contact with United about a deal for the 19-year-old this month.

United now want Williams to gain first-team experience after promoting him to training with their first team.

Ethan Williams has number of options for Man United exit

The 2005-born teenager made the move from Rochdale’s youth team to the Red Devils back in 2019 and has steadily climbed the ranks since.

Seeing academy graduates like Kobbie Mainoo seize opportunities and establish themselves as first-team regulars can inspire young prospects like Williams after signing a deal last summer.

Ethan Williams celebrated signing his first professional contract at Man United on Instagram.

This season, he has been in stellar form at the youth level, contributing six goals and assists in just nine appearances across all competitions, including three goals in the UEFA Youth League.

His performances have built on an outstanding campaign last season, where he recorded 17 goals and nine assists, playing a key role in Man United’s U18 side that clinched the treble.

The young winger impressed with his displays, drawing attention from clubs in the EFL despite not going out on loan in the summer.

Stockport are currently seventh in League One with Leyton Orient are just a point behind and in eighth. While the two clubs battle for a play-off spot, it seems they will also fight for the signature of Williams.

In other news, Stockport are battling a Premier League club to sign Blackpool’s teenage sensation.
