Exclusive: Man United’s stance on signing Emiliano Martinez revealed

Man United are not currently prioritising a deal for a new goalkeeper amid links with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, sources have told Football Insider.

Andre Onana has had problems in the 2024-25 campaign but sources say signing a replacement is not high on the radar at Old Trafford ahead of the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (19 May) that Aston Villa could accept offers of above £30million for Martinez, 32, in the upcoming summer transfer window.

He was tearful on the Villa Park pitch last week (16 May) following the win over Tottenham – the club’s final home game of the 2024-25 campaign – and looks set to depart the club in the off-season.

Man United not prioritising Martinez deal

Saudi Pro League clubs are keen to land the World Cup winner – while Barcelona have also been linked, but their ongoing financial concerns are likely to prevent a deal.

European giants are set to queue up to sign Martinez, who has established himself as one of the world’s leading goalkeepers at Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, Villa need to balance the books and could make further sales if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
