Exclusive: Mansfield Town agree deal to sign Hibernian’s Moriah-Welsh

Mansfield Town have agreed a permanent deal to sign Hibernian midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old arrives at The Stags following their 17th-place finish in League One last term.

Guyana international Moriah-Welsh, who came through the ranks at Chelsea and Bournemouth, is returning to England after 18 months in the Scottish Premiership.

He made 24 appearances across all competitions for Hibs last term, starting in eight of those outings.

The London-born ace helped the Edinburgh side qualify for the Europa League qualifying stages, where they face Midtjylland across two legs next month.

Moriah-Welsh made 40 total appearances for Hibs but is now returning to England with Mansfield, who are managed by experienced boss Nigel Clough.

He is no stranger to senior football in England, having spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Newport County in League Two.

The central midfielder also made two senior appearances for Bournemouth.

Moriah-Welsh captained Guyana in their World Cup qualifying win over Monserrat earlier this month.

League One star wanted by Sheffield United and Leicester

Meanwhile in League One, Football Insider has revealed (26 June) that Sheffield United, Leicester and Middlesbrough are eyeing moves for Luton Town attacker Millenic Alli.

The forward only joined Luton in the January transfer window after supplying Exeter with 12 goals in the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Alli proved he could step up and score goals in the Championship with his move to Kenilworth Road, but Luton were relegated to League One last month.
