Exclusive: Matt O’Riley to Chelsea latest as new Celtic price revealed
Chelsea are not prioritising a deal for Celtic star Matt O’Riley before the transfer window shuts, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues have been widely linked with a potential swoop for the Denmark international.
However, sources have told Football Insider that a new attacking midfielder is not high on the list of transfer targets at Stamford Bridge.
O’Riley has been on the radar at Chelsea in previous months but it is believed they are not set to firm up their interest in this window, even with the club aware Celtic face a real battle to keep him.
He is also wanted by Premier League newcomers Southampton and Europa League winners Atalanta.
Football Insider revealed last week (2 August) that Celtic value O’Riley at £25million after his exploits for the club.
Chelsea set to pass up the chance to sign Celtic star O’Riley
He kicked off the 2024-25 campaign with an assist in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
The former MK Dons and Fulham star notched 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 games last term.
O’Riley is under contract at Celtic until May 2027.

Chelsea are well-stocked in midfield and have already added Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to their ranks in the summer window.
Enzo Maresca’s side kick off their Premier League campaign against Man City on 18 August.
In other news, Todd Boehly could be about to seal his best Chelsea transfer yet, says expert.
