Frank McAvennie has tipped Celtic to beat Rangers 2-1 on Saturday after Olivier Ntcham revealed that Odsonne Edouard is “feeling good” ahead of the first Old Firm clash of the 2020/21 campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the Parkhead legend said that Edouard, 22, and Leigh Griffiths “could get at” Steven Gerrard’s defence on Saturday if both are declared fit to start.
Griffiths scored on his return to Neil Lennon’s side last time out and could be in line to make his first start of the season on Saturday.
The Hoops are hopeful that star striker Edouard will recover from Covid-19 in time to face their Glasgow rivals this weekend.
The France Under-21 international’s 10-day isolation period comes to an end tomorrow and the club are hopeful that he will be available for the Rangers clash.
When asked by Football Insider for his preview of the first Old Firm clash of the campaign, McAvennie said: “Rangers are the form team in Scotland right now.
“They have played well this season. Celtic have not played well so far but they have won seven games.
“I think it will be Barkas, Jullien, Ajer, Duffy, Frimpong and Laxalt across the back. Then I would play Ntcham, Brown and McGregor in the midfielder with Griffiths and Edouard up top. That is if Eddie is fit enough to play.
“I would start him and Griff. They could get at that Rangers defence.
“I think Celtic will win it 2-1. I can see it being a good game and I fancy Celtic to score early doors.”
Olivier Ntcham provided an update on Edouard yesterday, he told The Celtic View: “I spoke with Odsonne and he’s doing okay, he’s feeling good and recovering well.
“He’s keeping active every day and the club and the French football organisation have handled it well.”
