
Exclusive: Michal Helik agrees two-and-a-half-year Oxford deal as medical passed
Huddersfield Town defender Michal Helik has passed his medical at Oxford United and is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal, sources have told Football Insider.
The U’s have secured a full agreement with club and player and the 29-year-old is now set to join the Championship club.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (16 January) that Helik was heading for talks over personal terms and a medical at the Kassam Stadium.
Oxford have moved for the Poland international to strengthen their case for survival in the second tier after promotion from League One last term.
Helik has played 21 times for third tier Huddersfield across all competitions this term, starting in 18 of those outings.
He has scored twice in the 2024-25 campaign after netting an astonishing nine goals from centre-back last season.
The defender has been with Huddersfield since joining from Barnsley in September 2022.

Helik is experienced in the Championship, making 158 appearances in the second tier and scoring 17 goals.
Gary Rowett’s Oxford sit 17th in the second tier and are six points clear of the drop zone.

The U’s, who are next in action against Blackburn on Saturday (18 January), have already completed deals for Ole Romeny and Alex Matos this month.
Huddersfield are fourth in League One under Michael Duff following their relegation from the Championship last season.
