Exclusive: Millwall agree deal to sign Zak Lovelace back from Rangers

Millwall have agreed a deal to bring Zak Lovelace back to the club from Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old, who came through the ranks at Millwall, made the move to Rangers in 2022.

He has recently been part of Philippe Clement’s matchday squad, even featuring against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League.

However, a deal to re-sign for his former club is now edging closer, with an agreement reached ahead of the transfer deadline.

Millwall will be pleased to bring talented youngster Zak Lovelace back

Lovelace has made just six appearances this season, contributing two assists in his limited game time.

At just 16, he made the move from Millwall to join the Scottish giants Rangers in 2022, with the club securing him for a six-figure compensation fee, taking advantage of cross-border rules to land the rising star at a relatively low cost.

The teenager made his first-team debut at just 15, becoming Millwall’s second-youngest debutant. He went on to make five appearances in the Championship before leaving.

However, with just 11 combined appearances since last season, he is now set to return to The Den and join Alex Neil’s side in their push to climb the Championship table.

The Lions have been keen to strengthen their front line, especially after Romain Esse’s move to Crystal Palace earlier this window.

Millwall have been active in the transfer window with six signings so far, including Wolves midfielder Luke Cundle and winger Benicio Baker-Boaitey. Other additions include Aaron Connolly and Tristan Crama.

Currently sitting 13th in the Championship, Millwall is under the management of Neil, who succeeded Neil Harris last month.

On the other hand, Rangers are 10 points behind their bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the table. The club has been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis, but a deal has yet to materialise.

In other news, Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi took to social media to send a message to the fans.
