Exclusive: Millwall and Hibernian race to sign Jordan Thomas

Millwall and Hibernian are among a number of clubs tracking in-form Cheltenham Town winger Jordan Thomas, sources have told Football Insider.

Scouts from both clubs were among a host of sides in attendance to watch Thomas during Cheltenham’s 1-0 defeat against MK Dons last weekend.

The 23-year-old is currently playing his first full season in professional football after moving from non-league Bath City in February 2024.

The skillful attacker has made 11 goal contributions in all competitions for Cheltenham so far this season to bring him onto the radar of clubs higher up the pyramid.

Thomas will have just one year remaining on his contract with the League Two club in June and could be allowed to leave for a significant fee.

Millwall and Hibernian plot summer transfer swoop

Millwall are among the clubs currently leading the race to sign Thomas in the summer transfer window as they plan to bolster Alex Neil’s squad.

They have been looking to add a new winger to their squad since losing Romain Esse to rivals Crystal Palace during the January transfer window.

Now, the Cheltenham star has emerged high on their list of targets, but a deal will not be easy to pull off given the extensive interest in his signature.

Hibernian, meanwhile, are aiming for European qualification for the second time in three seasons as they are currently third in the SPFL table.

They are planning to bolster their squad depth to give themselves a better chance at progressing into the league stage after being knocked out by Aston Villa in the 2023-24 playoff round.

Alex Neil makes summer transfer plans amid late playoff hopes

Millwall have retained an outside hope of securing a playoff place in the late stages of the season, as they remain just six points short of sixth-placed West Brom.

A shock promotion to the Premier League would greatly bolster their transfer kitty this summer as they continue to plan to strengthen their squad.

As things stand, though, they are planning to be shrewd in their business ahead of Neil’s first full season as manager since his appointment in December 2024.
