Exclusive: Mohamed Salah wants mega-money ‘three-year Liverpool deal’
Mohamed Salah is holding out for a massive new Liverpool contract that runs until 2027, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseyside giants are unconcerned by reports that the forward, 32, has already agreed terms with a Saudi club.
Liverpool believe Salah’s first choice is to extend beyond his current agreement, which runs until the end of the season.
Sources say the record-breaking 32-year-old forward wants “three more years” at the club where he has reached legendary status on the back of his goalscoring exploits.
That would take him at Anfield until the summer of 2027, when he will turn 35.
Gabriel Agbonlahor claimed last month that the Egyptian superstar has already committed to a move to the Middle East in next summer’s transfer window.
However, sources revealed to Football Insider that Liverpool are “not worried” about the speculation and believe they can agree to a new contract with their superstar forward.
Football Insider revealed on 8 September that the Reds are doing “everything they can” to keep their star man at the club, with a “bumper” new deal expected to be offered.
Liverpool unconcerned by Mohamed Salah speculation despite Saudi ‘agreement’ claim
Salah has been a top target for Saudi Pro League clubs since the beginning of last summer, after moves for Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and more of Europe’s superstars.
The long-term vision is to have the current Liverpool star as the face of the league, with the world’s most high-profile Muslim footballer making the move to the Middle East.
However, given his importance to Liverpool which has been reaffirmed since Arne Slot’s arrival, the Reds are keen to keep him on Merseyside.
The winger has already scored seven goals and provided six assists in 11 games under the new boss, to underline his status as one of the world’s outstanding players.
He dispatched a penalty to put Liverpool 1-0 up against Chelsea on Sunday and later set up the winning goal for Curtis Jones to give Slot’s side a notable 2-1 win and take them back to the top of the Premier League table.

Salah claimed in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Man United that he has not been offered a new contract by the club.
Salah said: “You know this is my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it. It’s not up to me but no one has spoken to me at the club.”
In other news, Liverpool could now sign an England international in a stunning ‘£40m’ deal.
