Exclusive: Moyes urged to use West Ham 28y/o as makeweight in Eze deal by ex-Hammer
Frank McAvennie has tipped West Ham to sign Eberechi Eze but only if they offload Felipe Anderson this summer.
The Irons legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested that Jordan Hugill could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal for Eze, 22.
Eze impressed in a Queen’s Park Rangers side that finished 13th in the Championship with 14 goals and eight assists in 46 appearances.
Football Insider revealed last week that the club are weighing up moves for the attacking midfielder along with Brentford’s Said Benrahma.
Hammers striker Hugill enjoyed a successful loan at Loftus Road last season and McAvennie urged Moyes to use the 28-year-old in a potential deal for Eze.
“I am fed up of West Ham just competing to stay in the division,” he told Football Insider.
“A club like West Ham need to be at the top, the supporters deserve to be. We need players that are going to strengthen the starting eleven.
“We have attacking midfielders but if we offload Anderson then that deal is possible. We can then get Eze in.
“If Hugill can be a part of that deal – even better. Then we can offload somebody else. That would be a smart move.
“Moyes knows he has to change the squad because right now, it is not good enough.”
Football Insider understands that the club are open to selling Anderson this summer but want to recoup almost all of the £36million they paid for him in 2018.
The Brazilian has two years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.
