
Exclusive: Newcastle make move to sign Calvert-Lewin, two strikers wanted
Newcastle United are “very keen” on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 28-year-old is one of the Magpies’ top two targets to replace Callum Wilson, who will leave St James’ Park when his contract ends in June.
Newcastle have already made contact with Calvert-Lewin’s representatives to register their interest in a deal.
The forward, who has been with Everton since 2016, since has rejected multiple extension offers and is set to leave for free.
Calvert-Lewin one of two Newcastle targets
Calvert-Lewin has scored three goals and notched two assists in 22 Premier League appearances this season.
The forward has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the beginning of February.

He has racked up 269 appearances for Everton – scoring 71 goals and notching 20 assists – and played for England between 2020 and 2021.
Wilson, now 33, will depart Newcastle at the end of this season having scored just once in 14 games this term.
Like Calvert-Lewin, he has endured struggles with injury in recent years.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (9 April) that Newcastle, Wolves and Brentford were among a host of clubs checking on Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana last weekend.
Fofana is regarded as one of the best young keepers in Europe and has the best post-shot expected goals (PSxG) record of any goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues this term.
A number of Spanish, German and Italian clubs are also tracking Fofana – who is set to enter the final year of his contract at Angers this summer.
