Exclusive: Newcastle make new Fikayo Tomori move after player’s U-turn

Newcastle United have reignited their interest in signing AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies are in the market for a centre-back and are pursuing Tomori, 27, after their summer approach was knocked back.

It is believed that Newcastle have made contact with the defender’s camp to find out about his availability this month.

Tomori has lost his place in the Milan starting eleven after being in the team in the opening months of the 2024-25 campaign.

He had been resistant to moving last summer but has pulled a U-turn and is now more open to a Premier League return.

The former Chelsea star has played just 13 minutes in Serie A since starting in a 2-1 defeat against Fiorentina in early October.

Tomori has made 17 appearances across all competitions this term, including five in the Champions League.

The five-cap England international has racked up 159 appearances for Milan since joining in 2021 and has won the Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana titles at San Siro.

His contract with the European giants runs until June 2027.

The 27-year-old made 17 Premier League appearances with Chelsea.

As well as a move for Tomori, Newcastle pushed hard to land Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in the summer window but failed in that pursuit.

Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar are the current options at centre-back for Eddie Howe’s side, who sit fifth in the Premier League table.
