Exclusive: Newcastle’s owners make Alexander Isak decision after Howe bombshell

Newcastle United’s ownership and transfer team will price rivals out of a move for Alexander Isak despite Eddie Howe’s bombshell admission, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking after Sunday’s (18 May) away defeat at Arsenal, Howe refused to give any guarantee over Isak remaining at St James’ Park into the 2025-26 campaign.

“I’d be foolish to sit here and do anything like that,” he said. “We want to keep our strongest players. I’ve said that ever since I’ve been here and sat in this seat.”

Newcastle‘s defeat means they could fall out of the top five on Sunday (26 May) if they drop points against Everton.

Newcastle set to price Isak out of exit despite Howe admission

Failing to qualify for the Champions League would be a big blow for the Magpies, but it is believed the club’s owners will do everything they can to ensure Isak remains on Tyneside.

Arsenal and Liverpool had been eyeing a move for the Sweden international, but sources say Newcastle’s leadership will demand a British-record fee to consider releasing him.

That figure is likely to be out of the reach of English clubs in the upcoming summer window.

Isak has hit 27 goals in 41 games across all competitions this term but is currently on the sidelines with a groin issue potentially keeping him out of action for the crucial Everton clash.

He is under contract at Newcastle until June 2028 after joining from Real Sociedad in 2022.

Newcastle told new Semenyo price tag

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed that Bournemouth are ready to hold out for bids of £50-60million for Man United and Newcastle target Antoine Semenyo.

It is believed Bournemouth are hoping for an auction to boost Semenyo’s price tag this summer.

The Ghana international has been a star man for Andoni Iraola‘s side this term, scoring 11 goals and notching seven assists.
