Irish top-flight side Finn Harps have offered Jacob Mensah a contract after he was released by Crystal Palace, Football Insider understands.
The 19-year-old defender, who arrived at Selhurst Park from non-league side Ramsgate in March 2019, has spent just over a year at the Eagles but is now looking for a new club.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the Harps, who currently sit eighth in the League of Ireland Premier Division, have tabled an offer to the centre-back as they look to bolster their ranks this summer.
Mensah joined Palace on a free transfer last year after reported interest from the likes of Brighton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City.
However, he only featured intermittently for the Eagles’ under-23 side during his time at the club and failed to break into Roy Hodgson’s first-team plans.
The 72-year-old has used no less than six centre-backs across all competitions this season, while young Nikola Tavares has been an unused substitute.
Now available to sign on a free, Finn Harps are hoping to tempt Mensah with an offer to move from South London to the north of the Republic of Ireland.
The County Donegal outfit kicked off their season back in February but managed to play just four games before the season was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Irish top-flight is scheduled to resume at the end of July with an amended and shortened fixture list.
