Exclusive: Oxford United make move to sign Burnley star Hannes Delcroix

Oxford United are among several Championship clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Burnley defender Hannes Delcroix on loan this month, sources have told Football Insider.

The Clarets are keen to send the centre-back on a straight loan so that he can get some valuable first-team minutes, with the Lancashire side still seeing his long-term future at Turf Moor.

Delcroix, 25, has not been available for Scott Parker’s side so far this season due to injury but he was on the bench for last weekend’s FA Cup win at Reading.

Standard Liege are also interested in bringing the former Anderlecht man back to Belgium on loan before the close of the transfer window on 3 February.

He joined the Clarets from Anderlecht in August 2023 and was relegated with Vincent Kompany’s side last term.

The Haiti-born Belgium international made 15 appearances across all competitions for Burnley in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in eight of those outings.

He featured in his natural centre-back role as well as at left-back.

Delcroix is under contract at Turf Moor until June 2026.

Before joining Burnley, the one-cap Belgium ace racked up senior experience in the Netherlands and Belgium with RKC Waalwijk and Anderlecht.

The left-footer could become the fourth Clarets star to depart on loan this month, with Han-Noah Massengo, Andreas Hountondji and Owen Dodgson all leaving in recent days.
