Paul Robinson has claimed that Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp has a “real opportunity” to prove himself this season after completing a loan move to Norwich City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Jason Jones, the former Spurs stopper claimed that the chance to get regular minutes under his belt for the Canaries would provide the teenager with “vital experience”.
The Championship club confirmed Skipp’s arrival on Monday.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier in the day, the Canaries offered a significant seven-figure loan fee to get the deal over the line.
And now Robinson has claimed that the youngster has the perfect chance to prove himself at senior level.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Troy Parrot’s already gone [to Millwall], and Oliver Skipp is of a similar ilk.
“They’ve been in and around the first team for long enough now.
“They’ve had bit parts at certain times, but you feel now that it’s time this season. If Jose does get the players that he wants and if the squad is going to be packed, then there’s a real opportunity for these lads to go and get some experience.
“We’ve seen the likes of Liverpool loan their players out, and there’s a chance for the likes of Skipp to gain vital experience in the coming months.”
Skipp has registered 23 senior appearances for Tottenham since making his debut under Mauricio Pochettino in an EFL Cup clash against West Ham in October 2018.
The starlet saw his first team opportunities limited somewhat in 2019/20, however, and was handed just 71 minutes of Premier League action all campaign.
