Exclusive: Peterborough agree deal to sign Wrexham star Tom O’Connor

Peterborough United have agreed a deadline-day deal to sign Wrexham centre-back Tom O’Connor, sources have told Football Insider.

There is a full agreement between the two clubs, which will allow the 26-year-old to complete a move to the League One outfit.

Sources say that O’Connor is set for his medical at Peterborough today before the transfer deadline passes.

The Irishman hasn’t played a single minute for Wrexham so far this season, and has been left out of the squad completely for half of the Welsh side’s Championship games.

Peterborough making moves to solve defensive problems

It has been an abysmal start to the League One season for Peterborough, who sit rock bottom of the division with just a single point.

Darren Ferguson’s side have lost five out of their first six games of the campaign, and have already conceded 11 goals this term.

Posh will hope that the addition of O’Connor will strengthen their defensive ranks and go some way to patching up their leaky backline.

Life in League One doesn’t get any easier for Peterborough however, who travel to high-flyers Huddersfield next weekend, as they eye their first win of the campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday in talks to sign Man City midfielder

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with Man City over a potential deal to sign Jaden Heskeysources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is believed to be open to spending the season on loan as he makes the step up into senior football, having only previously been involved at youth level.

Heskey provided three goals and six assists across 32 appearances for Man City‘s Under-21s last season, heightening interest in his signature.

The attacking midfielder, son of former England and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, has yet to make his senior debut for City but is highly rated by Pep Guardiola.
