Plymouth have agreed a deal to sign Peterborough United midfielder George Cooper and he has already undergone a medical, Football Insider understands.
Cooper has found himself out of favour at the League One club so far this season and he has not featured in the first team.
A Plymouth source has told Football Insider that the club have moved quickly to agree terms with Peterborough that will see Cooper join them on loan.
They have fended off interest from a number of other lower league clubs to seal the signing of the former Crewe Alexandra player ahead of Monday’s transfer cut-off.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson is willing to let Cooper move on as he is well down the pecking order in his plans.
Plymouth are currently second in League Two and Pilgrims boss Ryan Lowe sees attacking midfielder Cooper as a key addition to his plans as he looks to steer his side to promotion back to League One this season.
The 22-year-old is a former team-mate of Lowe’s from his time at Crewe, where Cooper came through the youth ranks.
Midfielder Cooper made 142 appearances for the Railwaymen, scoring 15 times, before joining Peterborough for an undisclosed fee in January 2018.
He has largely been used as a substitute at Posh , starting only 16 of his 42 appearances for the club.
