Paul Robinson revealed he was thrilled to see Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli back to his best against Watford on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs goalkeeper shared that Alli’s performance was one of the only positives for Tottenham at the weekend as they really should have beaten the Hornets.
Alli scored a last-gasp equaliser against Watford in order to rescue a point for Mauricio Pochettino’s side after the Hornets had led the game since the sixth minute through Abdoulaye Doucoure’s opener.
Robinson stated that he thought Alli did very well on Saturday especially when you consider he has been struggling for form and has come under fire due to his performances in recent times.
“Dele Alli did well, I was pleased for him over the way that he played,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“Because he’s been struggling for form, he’s been criticised for the way his form has been, but he looked well, he looked back to his best.
“There weren’t many positives but he was one, as Spurs shouldn’t have been happy with their draw with Watford as that’s game they should be winning.”
The 23-year-old has been sparingly-used by Pochettino this season as he has only featured in two of Spurs’ opening nine league games.
Alli struggled with injuries in his 2018/19 campaign as a thigh injury and several hamstring injuries saw him miss a grand total of 23 games.
