Paul Robinson revealed he is 100% confident that Newcastle United attacker Dwight Gayle will be in demand in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 admitted that any Championship club with money will want to add Gayle to their squad.
It was reported recently that the Magpies will listen to offers for the English forward but are unlikely to let him go out on loan.
Robinson explained that Gayle is likely frustrated with his lack of game time under Steve Bruce at St James’ Park this season, and acknowledged that his proven goalscoring ability in the Championship will see offers come his way.
When asked if Newcastle will get inundated with calls from Championship clubs if they want to sell Gayle in January, Robinson told Football Insider: “100%, any Championship side with any kind of money will want Gayle.
“If Newcastle are willing to sell, there won’t be a shortage of suitors for him.
“If someone has the money in the Championship to get him, without a shadow of a doubt, he is a proven goalscorer.
“He’ll be hugely frustrated over his lack of game time under Steve Bruce at Newcastle, but he’s a proven Championship goalscorer, so it’ll be a no-brainer.”
The 29-year-old attacker has only featured eight times for the Magpies this season and is yet to rack up a goal or an assist in his outings.
Gayle has played 100 times in the Championship across his career and has built up a reputation of being a lethal goalscorer in the division by hitting the back of the net 58 times in his outings.
