Exclusive: Robinson tearing his hair out after significant West Ham update on 'Top player'

Paul Robinson says that West Ham could have a “top player” in Jack Wilshere if he could somehow overcome his injury woes.

The former Tottenham and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says he is tearing his hair out over what might have been for the English international.

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that the 28-year-old is now set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a hernia operation, the player taking to Instagram to voice his frustrations.

Robinson says that another spell on the sidelines is a bitter pill for Wilshere to swallow and questions how much game time he will get before the season is over.

Robinson told Football Insider: “He’s a top player if you can keep him fit but that’s been his biggest problem for a long time – getting him fit and keeping him fit.

“I think he thought the move to West Ham would be a fresh start for him, get fit, play a lot of football but if he’s going to have a hernia operation now it’s a couple more weeks and before you know it that’s another season gone.”

Wilshere has played just eight times across all competitions this season and has a total of 16 games under his belt since his move from Arsenal in the summer of 2018.

Last season saw him forced to undergo surgery on an ankle injury which ruled him out for the majority of the campaign.

In other West Ham news, Kevin Phillips has been blown away by the Hammers’ late transfer plans.
