Exclusive: Sam Dalby undergoing Bolton Wanderers medical after deal agreed
Sam Dalby is set for a medical at Bolton Wanderers today after agreeing terms, sources have told Football Insider.
Dalby is a free agent after turning down a new deal at Wrexham earlier this summer.
Bolton have fended off competition from rivals, who have also submitted contract offers to the 25-year-old, and won the race for his signature as they look to build a side capable of challenging for promotion from League One next season.
Dalby spent last season on loan at Dundee United and impressed in the Scottish Premiership, scoring 15 goals.

Dalby set for Bolton move
Football Insider exclusively revealed last week (6 June) that Bolton were set to land Dalby on a free, beating fellow League One sides Wigan Athletic and Blackpool to the forward.
The Englishman had spells at Leyton Orient, Leeds, and Watford as a youngster, before making the switch to non-league side Southend ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
After a year at Roots Hall, Dalby joined Wrexham, scoring six goals in 42 games as the Ryan Reynolds-owned side won the National League title.
The following season saw the striker make 31 appearances as the Welsh side secured back-to-back promotions, before he spent the 2024/25 campaign at Dundee, helping them clinch Conference League football.

Bolton look to challenge for League One promotion
Bolton had a topsy-turvy League One campaign last season, with Ian Evatt being sacked in January after overseeing a number of poor results.
Steven Schumacher was appointed with the club sitting just outside the play-off places on goal difference, but a winless last six games saw the Wanderers drop to eighth.
Position | Team | Points |
6 | Leyton Orient | 78 |
7 | Reading | 75 |
8 | Bolton | 68 |
However, the former Stoke and Plymouth boss is hoping to build a squad that can compete at the very top of the third tier, in the 2025/26 campaign.
Last season, Aaron Collins was Bolton’s top scorer with 12 goals, so it was clear that the Trotters needed to add firepower up front.
Wanderers fans will hope that Dalby is the start of a number of incomings this summer, as Schumacher’s side look to return to the Championship for the first time since 2019.
