EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Shrewsbury Town striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway is in advanced talks to join Brisbane Roar, Football Insider understands.
Robbie Fowler, the Liverpool and Premier League legend who was recently appointed the Australian A-league club’s new manager, is targeting players from England as he strengthens his squad this summer.
A Shrewsbury source has told Football Insider that Fowler and the Roar are working on a deal to entice Amadi-Holloway from the League One club.
Discussions have taken place over a deal and there is growing confidence that an agreement can be reached for the 26-year-old to head to Queensland.
Amadi-Holloway has 12 months remaining on the two-year contract he signed when joining Shrewsbury last summer from Oldham Athletic.
He struggled to make an impression at the Shropshire outfit, scoring three goals and supplying three assists from 38 appearances in all competitions.
Capped by Wales at Under-19 level, Amadi-Holloway has previously had stints at Oldham, Wycombe Wanderers, Fleetwood Town and Bath City after emerging from the youth ranks of Bristol City.
Brisbane Roar finished ninth in last season’s A-league and appointed Fowler as their new boss in April.
In other Shrewsbury Town news, it can be REVEALED that the club has rejected multiple bids for one of their star players.
