Exclusive: Sunderland to sell first-team players in January
Sunderland are set to offload a number of their first-team players in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Black Cats had an extremely busy summer and have made a superb start to their Premier League campaign.
Regis Le Bris’ side sit seventh in the table, with eight points from their first five games, including home wins over West Ham United and Brentford.
Sources say that Sunderland will look to sell or loan out some of their unwanted first-team players when the transfer window reopens, in order to raise funds for any potential signings.

Sunderland have real chance of Premier League survival
It has become notoriously difficult for newly promoted sides to stay up in the Premier League over the past few years.
Last season, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton were all relegated, while Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United suffered the drop the campaign before.
However, Sunderland have the chance to become the first promoted side in three years to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
With the likes of West Ham and Wolves faltering, the Black Cats could take advantage.
Therefore, they will look to use the January transfer window as an opportunity to offload fringe players and reinvest in their squad.
Sunderland defender set for departure
Dennis Cirkin may be one player to leave Sunderland in the coming year, sources have told Football Insider.

The double signing of Reinildo and Arthur Masuaku has cast doubts over the future of the 23-year-old
Cirkin has less than 12 months remaining on his Sunderland contract, and concerns are growing that he may already have been replaced.
Sources say no decision has been made about the left-back’s future but he has fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light.
