Swansea City have agreed to sign Bristol City midfielder Kasey Palmer on loan, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 23-year-old moved to Ashton Gate last summer from Chelsea for a £3.5million fee but has been given the green light to leave on a temporary basis.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the former England under-21 international is set to join the Swans on a season-long loan and an announcement is imminent.

Palmer played 25 times in the Championship for the Robins last season but has made the matchday squad just once in the league this campaign.

He put in a man-of-the-match performance against Northampton Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup as he scored twice to sink the League One outfit.

However, his cup display has not been enough to force his way back into Dean Holden’s first-team plans in the league.

A move to south Wales would see him link up with former Bristol City captain Korey Smith, with manager Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his attacking midfielder options.

Wolves loanee Morgan Gibbs-White has suffered an injury after an impressive start to a season.

The club were keen on signing Harry Wilson from Liverpool but the 23-year-old is now undergoing a medical at their rivals Cardiff City.

Swansea have space for one more loanee in their matchday squad with Freddie Woodman, Marc Guehi, Gibbs-White and Viktor Gyökeres all on the books for this season.

Palmer has scored 10 goals and contributed eight assists in 93 Championship games across spells with Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City.
