Exclusive: Tim Iroegbunam passes Everton medical and agrees three-year deal

Tim Iroegbunam has passed a medical at Everton ahead of his move from Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18th June the Merseyside giants had a bid accepted for the 20-year-old and then first broke the news on 20th June that Iroegbunam was headed to Everton to undergo a medical.

Sources say the England U-20 international has now agreed the terms of a three-year deal with the option of a further year included as he prepares to make the move to Goodison Park.

The cost of the transfer will be around £10million as Sean Dyche looks to add to his midfield options for next season.

The announcement may be delayed until 1 July so it will be included in next year’s accounts.

Tim Iroegbunam deal could be delayed due to Everton PSR concerns

Iroegbunam has seen his first-team opportunities limited at Villa Park since joining the club from West Brom in 2021.

The midfielder spent the 2022-23 season out on loan with Championship side Queens Park Rangers, where he scored four goals and laid on four assists in 32 appearances.

Although Iroegbunam played 15 games for Unai Emery’s side last season, he only started in two of those matches.

But the youngster did feature home and away against Ajax in the Europa Conference League – a tie Villa won 4-0 on aggregate.

Football Insider revealed in March the Dutch giants held an interest in Iroegbunam, but Everton now look poised to win the race for his signature.

The Merseysiders could wait until the start of next month to announce the transfer as they are believed to be on the limit of their allowable profit and sustainability (PSR) losses again.

Football Insider revealed last month Everton will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of June to help balance the books.
