Exclusive: Tottenham close in on Angel Gomes deal after offer submitted
Tottenham are leading the race to sign Lille star Angel Gomes ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
However, they have been joined by clubs in France, Spain and Germany in their efforts to convince the 24-year-old to join the club this summer.
His impressive displays for Lille and England this season have made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe as he nears the end of his deal in June.
This comes after former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham have held talks with Gomes’ agent and are looking to accelerate their deal.
Meanwhile, Gomes has already turned down a contract offer from West Ham, who are not expected to return with a new offer as things stand.
Sources say the midfielder is unlikely to have his head turned by a new offer from the Hammers, and is now considering his other options.

Angel Gomes to Tottenham accelerates after recent twist
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Tottenham are “very interested” in signing Gomes as Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the midfielder.
Spurs scouts have been watching Gomes throughout this season to keep an eye on his progress.
The Man United academy graduate has attracted plenty of interest since impressing in his four England appearances under Lee Carsley earlier this season.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed Man United are not planning to re-sign Gomes and will instead pursue other targets, handing Spurs a boost in their efforts.
His 134 appearances for Lille over five years at the Ligue 1 club have allowed him to grow and develop his game to set up a potential return to the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou eyes midfield overhaul at Spurs
Postecoglou is planning a potential midfield overhaul this summer amid interest in Gomes, as a number of players could be allowed to leave the club.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 March that Tottenham will accept offers for Yves Bissouma after holding crunch talks about his long-term future.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur could also be allowed to leave amid interest from Atletico Madrid, as Postecoglou is not happy with his current options.
Instead, Spurs are working on signing a new central midfielder in the window as they look to strengthen the manager’s squad after a disappointing season.
