Exclusive: Tottenham may terminate Parrott deal in deadline-day twist
Troy Parrott may quit Millwall and join a new club on loan from Tottenham by tonight, Football Insider has learned.
Spurs held talks last month about terminating Parrott’s season-long Millwall loan at the midway point and arranging a new loan move this month.
But that plan was halted as Parrott wanted to stay at the New Den and fight for his place, while manager Gary Rowett has offered firm assurances about where the young striker fitted into his plans.
But the teenager, 18, has been an unused substitute in the last three league matches and a deadline-day move is now on the cards.
Spurs can take advantage of the recall option in the deal and cut short Parrott’s loan before either taking him back to north London or securing a new temporary move.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that a second loan of the campaign is now a likely option as the clock ticks down on deadline day.
The Premier League giants are keen for the young forward to get as much regular senior action this season as possible.
Parrott has struggled to make as big an impact at Millwall as all parties had hoped.
This was initially due to injury, with ankle and thigh problems meaning he did not make his Lions debut until 21 November.
Since then, Parrott has made 14 first-team appearances in all competitions.
But he has yet to score for the south Londoners across 792 minutes of action, and has only registered a single assist.
Parrott had been expected to make a big impact in the Championship after breaking into the senior Spurs side last season.
