Exclusive: ‘Tottenham takeover deal will be done soon’
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been looking for minority investment in order to take the club forward.
It was widely reported last year that Levy wants to sell a stake in the north London giants – which would value the club at a total of £3.75billion.
Qatari investors and former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley are among the figures linked with potential investment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs fans have protested against Levy’s running of the club amid a poor season for Ange Postecoglou‘s side, who sit 16th in the Premier League table.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed he believes a deal will be “done soon” after months of speculation.
‘Spurs need the cash to go forward’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Spurs “need the cash to go forward” after a period of stagnation.
Tottenham are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table with clubs like Aston Villa, Brighton and Nottingham Forest making big progress in recent seasons.
Spurs’ most recent financial results showed a loss of £26.2million for the 2023-24 campaign – down from £86.8million in the previous season.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Over the weeks we’ve seen Qatar linked with Spurs, Amanda Staveley linked with Spurs – MSP and Liberty Media, it’s a long line of people.
“They’ve been in discussions with Daniel Levy about this investment.
“I do think there’s going to be a transaction done soon.
“I think Spurs need the cash to go forward. There will be a minority stake sold.”

Rashford to Tottenham update
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (30 April) that Tottenham will find a deal for long-term target Marcus Rashford difficult to do this summer.
The 27-year-old, currently on loan with Aston Villa, is admired in the corridors of power at Spurs.
Sources say Tottenham will need to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League to have any chance of attracting Rashford to the club.
