Exclusive: Walsall in advanced talks to sign Birmingham product Rico Browne

Birmingham City academy product Rico Browne is in advanced talks to join Walsall, sources have told Football Insider.

A deal for the 20-year-old to move to the League Two club is progressing well and all parties expect it to be finalised this weekend.

Browne has been without a club since his release from the League One club at the end of June and now looks set to secure a move.

Because he is a free agent, Browne isn’t beholden to the transfer market and is free to join any club at any time.

Football Insider revealed (July 3) that Tottenham were interested in signing Browne after he rejected a new Birmingham City contract.

The youngster failed to make a single appearance for Birmingham’s senior team but featured heavily at youth level, making 31 appearances across various age groups.
