Exclusive: West Ham open door to Danny Ings joining Southampton
West Ham are planning to accept a last-gasp Danny Ings offer in the closing stages of the winter transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
This comes amid growing interest from Southampton, who have identified the 32-year-old as an option to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
As a result, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that a cut-price offer could be accepted before the window closes at 11pm.
The forward is not expected to play a part in Graham Potter’s long-term plans, while the imminent arrival of Evan Ferguson will push him further down the pecking order.
West Ham to accept Danny Ings offers after Southampton twist
Football Insider revealed in October that the Hammers could cash in on Ings in January in a last-ditch attempt to raise money from his sale.
Potter has made it clear that the striker is no longer a part of his plans, opting to play Lucas Paqueta as a false nine amid a lack of alternatives at the London Stadium.
Serious injuries to both Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug had restricted the new manager’s options, while Ings has started just two games all season.
Signing a new striker has been a focus of the Hammers’ transfer window, further illustrating their lack of faith in the 32-year-old to lead the line.
Having missed out on deals to sign the likes of Jhon Duran and Riccardo Pepi earlier in the window, Ferguson now looks set to link up with his former manager at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, multiple clubs are said to have been made aware of Ings’ availability, but Southampton’s interest is the most prominent as things stand.
