Exclusive: West Ham scouts make feelings clear about Josh Sargent after latest transfer mission
West Ham scouts have been keeping tabs on Norwich City star Josh Sargent and are seriously impressed by what they have seen, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that West Ham dispatched a senior scout to watch Sargent during Norwich’s 4-1 defeat to Birmingham City on 22 November.
Since then, they have been keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old’s performances and feel he could be an option to end their long-running striker problem.
The U.S.A international has scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 Championship games this season, following last term’s tally of 15 goals in 32 appearances.
Sargent‘s contract at Norwich is set to run until 2028, placing them in a strong position with regard to his future and any potential transfer fee.

West Ham interested in signing Norwich City’s Josh Sargent
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 14 December that West Ham are working to identify strikers who could bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Concerns about Callum Wilson‘s fitness and Niclas Fullkrug‘s long-term future at the club have forced them to assess a number of options in the market.
Scouts have been tracking Sargent as a result, and there is a feeling that his physicality and work ethic would make him a top option for Nuno’s plans.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 7 December that West Ham will only spend £20million on a new forward, and feel the Norwich star could be available for less.
Despite Norwich’s major struggles so far this season, the striker has maintained his strong reputation and has impressed watching scouts from West Ham and elsewhere.
Nuno Espirito Santo sets sights on new strikers
Brown told Football Insider on 4 December that Nuno wants to overhaul his West Ham squad, with new recruits targeted in up to five key positions.
The addition of a new striker has emerged as one of the priorities among those positions given their lack of firepower and the ongoing fight against relegation.
As a result, Sargent isn’t the only forward on their radar, with a number of potential options being considered ahead of the January window.

West Ham are keeping tabs on Troy Parrott, who has impressed with his performances for AZ Alkmaar and the Republic of Ireland so far this season.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in November that West Ham are interested in Ivan Toney and have sounded out the possibility of a move.
