Exclusive: West Ham set for extra £14m+ after confirmed news

West Ham are set to cut their wage bill by more than £14million after confirming several first-team players will leave the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider

Football Insider revealed on 28 April West Ham are preparing for another big overhaul ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Hammers are looking to free up space in their squad for a wave of new signings following their disappointing campaign.

That process is already underway after West Ham announced Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the London Stadium when their contracts expire on 30 June.

Speaking to the media on 9 May, Graham Potter revealed the decision has been confirmed now to allow the club’s fans to show their appreciation to the players in the final home game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (18 May).

Michail Antonio is also out of contract on 30 June, but West Ham are yet to decide on his future.

The 35-year-old, who has spent the past 10 years in east London, hasn’t played since suffering a broken leg in a car crash in December.

West Ham make move as signing spree on the cards

Ings is the highest-earning star leaving West Ham this summer, with the striker understood to be on around £125,000 a week.

The 32-year-old has underwhelmed since making his £15million move from Aston Villa to the London Stadium in January 2023, having registered five goals and five assists in 69 appearances.

Fabianski, who has featured 215 times for the Hammers over the past seven years and turned 40 last month, earns around £65,000 per week.

Cresswell is the longest-serving player leaving this summer after spending 11 years with the club, making 367 appearances along the way.

The 35-year-old’s salary is worth around £50,000 weekly.

Coufal, who earns £35,000 a week, has played 178 times for West Ham over the past five years.

However, the 32-year-old’s minutes have been reduced this season following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s excellent form since arriving from Manchester United last summer.

Sources have told Football Insider West Ham will save around £14.3million once the four players leave the club next month.

West Ham plan to sign Alphone Areola upgrade

Football Insider revealed on 11 May Potter wants to sign Aaron Ramsdale this summer to improve his goalkeeping options.

West Ham see the 27-year-old as an upgrade on Alphonse Areola and Fabianski despite his relegation with Southampton.

Ramsdale has a relegation release clause in his contract, with multiple Premier League clubs understood to be considering making a move to sign him this summer.

The Hammers have conceded 59 goals in 36 matches this season as they find themselves sitting 15th in the table.
