West Ham have been tipped to sign Ryan Fraser on a summer free as he ‘ticks the boxes’ for David Moyes.
The former Leeds United strike Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the 26-year-old will have “a queue of Premier League clubs” after his signature despite an indifferent season at Bournemouth.
Fraser will be available on a free this summer with his contract on the south coast expiring at the end of June.
The Scotland international has made 32 appearances in a difficult campaign for the Cherries.
Whelan claimed the wide-man fits the profile of player wanted by David Moyes at the London Stadium.
“I am sure there will be a lot of people looking at him,” he told Football Insider.
“Especially on a free contract so you do not need to pay any money out.
“We have seen that he is a fantastic player. He has pace, trickery and he can score a goal. There will be a lot of clubs looking and thinking. He could be a diamond to get because there will be no fee for him.
“There will be a queue of Premier League clubs. I am sure West Ham will be looking at him. He is their sort of player, he fits the bill. David Moyes wants more British players to add to that squad. Fraser ticks most of the boxes.
“Yes, he has had a poor season but who has had a good season at Bournemouth?”
According to the Daily Express, the Hammers manager wants more British signings as he tries to put his stamp on the squad.
Fraser would appear to fit the bill but The Irons are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.
