Exclusive: Whelan makes big Klich claim ahead of Leeds clash v Stoke
Noel Whelan has claimed Mateusz Klich is back to his best for Leeds United after a barnstorming display against Blackburn Rovers.
The former Whites and Coventry striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 30-year-old, along with Patrick Bamford, had been under pressure going into weekend win after recent displays.
But Whelan insisted the key midfielder redeemed himself just when supporters had started to question his untouchable status.
Klich scored his sixth league goal of the season at Blackburn while maintaining his remarkable record of starting every Championship fixture.
Ex-Leeds striker is in no doubt the Poland international is a hugely influential figure ahead of tomorrow evening’s showdown against Stoke City.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the midfielder’s display against Blackburn and his influence ahead of the Stoke match, Whelan said: “Klich was up there for Man of the Match.

“He set the tone with the first goal. The hunger and desire, he was intense with his closing down all game long.
“He had been off the boil recently and he needed a performance.
“Just when we needed a reaction from a disappointing result against Luton he steps up and sets the tone for everybody.
“Having the intelligence to pick the right pass for Bamford just shows his class. Both of them were under a lot of pressure going into that game.”
