Exclusive: Whelan makes bold Leeds line-up prediction for Forest clash
Noel Whelan said there is “no question” in his mind over whether Jean-Kevin Augustin will be involved for the Leeds United clash at Nottingham Forest this weekend.
The ex-Whites forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed he would even start the 22-year-old in the fixture.
Augustin watched on from the stands as United slipped to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic on Saturday after also missing out against Millwall four days earlier.
However, the January signing did get his first taste of action in a Leeds shirt on Tuesday, playing 45 minutes for the under-23s in their 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
When asked he expected the French youth international to be included against Sabri Lamouchi’s side, Whelan told Football Insider: “At the very minimum, he has got to be on the bench.
“Augustin has to be there. We only have one striker in Patrick Bamford, our one recognised striker at the football club. He has got to be involved.

“He will have had a full week of training with the players. I have got no question now that he has to be on the bench if not starting. Maybe give him the opportunity to get out there and show us what he can do and maybe take some pressure off Patrick Bamford at the same time.”
The centre-forward, who takes the number 29 shirt at Elland Road, joined on loan from Red Bull Leipzig with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Augustin was United’s third signing in January following the arrivals of Elia Caprile and Ian Poveda, all are awaiting their first-team debuts.
In other Leeds United news, pundit claims Marcelo Bielsa’s side are “shocking” in one particular area.
