Preston North End have slapped a £1.5million price-tag on Wigan Athletic target Daniel Johnson, Football Insider understands.

Wigan saw a loan bid for the attacking midfielder, 26, rejected earlier this month, with Preston informing their Championship rivals they will only sell Johnson for £1.5million.

A Latics source has told Football Insider the club remain interested in Johnson and are expected to come back with a new seven-figure offer for him before next week’s transfer deadline.

Preston are prepared to part company with attacking midfielder Johnson as Alex Neil looks to reshape his squad at Deepdale.

Johnson has made 185 appearances for Preston since joining from Aston Villa in January 2015.
