Exclusive: Wolves and Burnley race to sign Kalvin Phillips after green light
Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is a target for both Wolves and Burnley in the closing stages of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Phillips has not featured for Man City since their Carabao Cup win against Huddersfield in September, and the relegation threatened duo are set to offer him a way out.
Pep Guardiola is prepared to let the England international leave this month as he is not part of his City plans for the rest of the season.
The midfielder’s contract at City is set to run until 2028, but all parties are keen for him to move on before the expiry date and are working towards that end.

Wolves and Burnley in for Man City’s Kalvin Phillips
Phillips has played just seven minutes of football so far this season after returning from a mixed loan spell at relegated Ipswich Town last season.
Prior to that, he spent six months on loan at West Ham where he also struggled to impress, before ultimately returning to Man City once more.
An achilles tendon injury prevented him from finding a club during the summer while interested parties have not been convinced to take the risk until now.
Football Insider revealed last month that Phillips is preparing to leave Man City and find a new club, and is prepared to listen to multiple offers in the mid-season window.
Both Wolves and Burnley are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table and are keen to bolster their squads to give them a shot at survival.
Man City set to block Omar Marmoush exit
Phillips is not the only player being linked with a move away from the Etihad in the closing stages of the transfer window, with Omar Marmoush subject to speculation.
However, Football Insider revealed on 30 January that Man City will block Marmoush’s exit after his return to the first-team plans under Guardiola.

Marmoush has struggled for form at City this season after he sustained an injury on international duty with Egypt in September.
Sources told Football Insider last month that Tottenham had set their sights on Marmoush ahead of January, but they now look set to miss out.
Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month, he has proved that he can play a valuable role at City as they chase the Premier League title.
