Exclusive: Wolves plot raid to sign Portuguese midfield starlet likened to PL superstar

Wolves are plotting a move to sign Portuguese sensation Edson Silva, Football Insider understands.

Midfielder Silva has emerged on Wolves’ radar after catching the eye at provincial Portuguese club GD Alcochetense.

A source at Molineux has told Football Insider that the club have been scouting the teenage talent during the fledgeling years of his career and that they are ready to pounce for his capture.

Scouts from clubs across Europe have been making regular checks on players from the amateur club which is situated close to the famous academy of Sporting Lisbon that has developed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Figo over the years.

Silva, 18, has been likened to Manchester United and France star Paul Poga due to his playing style and he is regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects to emerge in Portugal in recent years.

Wolves face competition for Silva with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon keen to keep the teenager in Portugal, while Italian side Roma are also fighting for his signature.
