Exclusive: Wrexham’s Luke Bolton agrees to join Mansfield Town
Wrexham defender Luke Bolton has agreed a move to Mansfield on a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.
The Welsh club have been open to offers for the right-back this summer after he fell out of favour under Phil Parkinson and was not considered part of his long-term plans.
With just one year remaining on his contract at the Stok Cae Ras, Wrexham have opted to cash in now rather than lose him for free next summer.
Bolton, 25, made just three appearances for the Red Dragons across all competitions last season and is now keen to move on in search of first-team football.
Mansfield, meanwhile, are determined to strengthen their squad as they aim to remain competitive in League One following their 17th-placed finish last time out.

Mansfield Town to strengthen with Luke Bolton signing
Bolton’s ability to play both as a winger and full-back has made him perfect for Nigel Clough‘s system and he was targeted for that reason.
Keanu Baccus nailed down the right-wing back role at Mansfield last season as he scored four goals and provided seven assists in 39 League One games.
Bolton’s arrival will put pressure on his position in the starting XI and provide an alternative option in that position which has been key for The Stags’ success.
Wrexham, meanwhile, are making highly ambitious plans for the future following their promotion to the Championship and are working on multiple top signings.
Parkinson has been ruthless in his squad building already this summer, with a number of out-of-favour players being touted for moves away from the Red Dragons.

Wrexham in talks to sign Ajax midfielder
While the likes of Bolton are being allowed to leave the Stok Cae Ras this summer, Parkinson is eyeing ambitious targets to improve his squad.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 July that Wrexham are in talks to sign Sivert Mannsverk from Ajax following his short-term loan deal at Cardiff City.
Ajax are open to letting the midfielder, 23, leave the club this summer, and Wrexham are prepared to pay up to £4million to agree a deal.
Football Insider revealed on 20 May that Wrexham will have huge money to spend this summer, with a £30million transfer kitty handed to Parkinson.
