Expert baffled by Tottenham fans after ‘surprise’ Rodrigo Bentancur development
Rodrigo Bentancur’s early return to Tottenham is not the good news some fans may think it is.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Uruguay were eliminated from the World Cup despite beating Ghana 2-0 on Friday (2 December) as Bentancur, 25, was taken off through injury in the first half.

The midfielder will now return to Hotspur Way as Spurs gear up for their return to domestic football.
However, Wenham insists Bentacnur’s return is not the good news Spurs fans may think it is.
“It’s an interesting one, I was very surprised to see Uruguay go out,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I look at that midfield two of Valverde and Bentancur and see two world-class players. They also have some really good attacking players.
“They will be very disappointed because they breathe football in Uruguay. From a Tottenham point of view, you can say it’s all well and good Bentancur being back early but people have forgotten he is suspended.
“He will miss the Brentford game because of an accumulation of yellow cards. He was never going to feature anyway.
“I saw people getting excited about that and, to me, it doesn’t make a huge amount of difference to Tottenham despite what some people are saying.”

Bentancur has scored four goals in 14 total Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season.
He has firmly established himself as a fan favourite following his move from Juventus last January.
In other news, a young Tottenham attacker has arrived at his new club after being told to leave.
