Expert can't believe Harry Kane reveal as 'bad management' at Tottenham exposed
Noel Whelan has accused Antonio Conte of “bad management” after his comments on the physical condition of Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.
The former Leeds striker was speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Conte revealed Spurs’ “prize jewel” was withdrawn due to “fatigue” during the 2-0 League Cup loss at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday (9 November).
Speaking after the defeat and quoted by the BBC, the Italian claimed Kane was “very, very tired” and had to sit out a training session in the build-up to the game in order to “recover energy”.
The England captain was making his 21st consecutive start for the Londoners but was withdrawn before the hour mark.
Kane and Tottenham face Leeds United on Saturday (12 November) before their international contingent jet off to the Middle East for the World Cup in Qatar.
The striker, who will become England’s greatest-ever goalscorer with three strikes at the tournament, has already netted 12 club goals this term.

Whelan suggested Kane is at a “much greater risk of injury” while he remains fatigued.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “If you knew he was shattered, why did you play him?
“If Conte knew he wasn’t going to offer what he wanted, why not play Lucas Moura up front?
“You’ve got to protect your prized jewel. There’s the World Cup coming up, and there’s a massive Premier League game against Leeds United just three days later.
“To me, that’s either bad management or Harry Kane insisted on playing.
“It’s a risk. If you’re fatigued, then there’s a much greater risk of injury. There are so many reasons why he shouldn’t have played.”
