Expert explains real reason for Andreas Christensen absence after Chelsea training ground reveal

Andreas Christensen may have missed the recent game against Everton because Thomas Tuchel is preparing for life without him at Chelsea.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Christensen, 26, has not played in any of Chelsea’s last three games after complaining of stomach cramps.

The Dane did not feature in the 1-0 defeat at Everton last Sunday (1 May) despite Chelsea confirming he had returned to training in the build-up.

Christensen is out of contract at the end of the season and has, per Spanish outlet AS last Sunday (1 May), agreed a deal in principle to join Barcelona.

And Dinnery suggests that Tuchel may have factored the centre-back’s transfer ambitions into his decision to leave him out at Goodison Park.

“He had trained but hadn’t trained fully,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“There was some talk that he might make the game against Old Trafford the previous Thursday.

“Tuchel said that he isn’t too far away from being fully integrated with the team but it’s an area of the team where they are fairly well stocked.

“There may even be part of Tuchel looking ahead to next season with the prospect of losing Christensen.”

Christensen has scored twice and registered one assist in 33 appearances this term.

This site revealed last month (2 April) that his defensive partner Antonio Rudiger is also close to a deal with another club.

In other news, pundit claims Mason Mount could snub new Chelsea deal to force Liverpool move after update.
