Expert gutted by Erling Haaland latest as Man City images drop – ‘I’m worried about it’
The rest of the Premier League should be worried about Erling Haaland’s potential improvement at Man City during the World Cup break.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about how Haaland could perform in the second half of the season. n
Man City posted to club media on Monday (5 December) as Haaland and his teammates returned to training ahead of a mid-season friendly game against Girona on 17 December.
The Norway international has been out of action since 12 November with his nation failing to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
Haaland announced himself in the English game by scoring 18 goals in his first 13 Premier League outings before the season halted for the World Cup.
McManus is certain Haaland will score better that total during the remaining games of the 2022-23 Premier League.
“It’s disappointing for everyone that Haaland wasn’t at the World Cup,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It’s a shame he plays for a smaller nation because it would be great to see him out there. Instead, he’s been at Man City, training nard, waiting for the season to start.
“I’m worried about it, honestly. He had a brilliant start to the season, he’s just under 20 league goals. Now he has had a rest and got acclimatised to the league, how many is he going to score now?
“This Man City team is only going to get better unfortunately for the rest of the league. De Bruyne has been back at City for a while now too.

“He and Haaland have this telepathic link. They always know where the other one is and we saw that lead to a lot of goals earlier this season.
“Those two are key to City winning the league and possibly the Champions League too.”
