Expert: Hugo Lloris will be ‘big miss’ for Tottenham after injury latest

Paul Robinson has claimed potential injury absentee Hugo Lloris would be “a big miss” for Tottenham in the North London derby.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane favourite said Lloris, 35, “has been phenomenal this season.”

Antonio Conte’s side welcome Arsenal to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (1 October).

Spurs could be without first-choice goalkeeper Lloris for the top-of-the-table clash.

As reported by Sky Sports (19 September), the club captain pulled out of the France squad after suffering from a thigh injury.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the news, Robinson said: “His form has been excellent.

“I think he has been phenomenal this season. He has had his critics over the past couple of years but he has shown strength of character to get back to his best.

“He has been playing at a very high level. Hugo is a world-class goalkeeper and a big personality in the dressing room. He has been reliable for Spurs.

“When the ball goes back to him there is never any worry. There is never any doubt. He is consistent. He is not flash or flamboyant and he does everything you expect from your goalkeeper.

“Yes, he will be a big miss for the North London derby. But in Fraser Forster Spurs have the best number two they have had in a long time.

“If it is [Fraser] Forster I would not be concerned. He is a top-quality goalkeeper.”
